EOG After School Review

Dear Parents,

It’s coming up on EOG test time again and I am sending this letter home with your child because I will be offering after school study sessions on Wednesday the 7th, Thursday the 8th, Monday the 12th, and Tuesday the 13th.

I Will have a sign up sheet in the 6th grade hallway for students who want to stay after but it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

To stay after your student will need to do three things.

  1. sign up for hte appropriate day
  2. bring a not to school with your signature saying he/she can stay after school
  3. be picked up at the front of the school at 3:45

I look foward to seeing your child after school. We will be doing EOG practice tests and reviewing materials from the beginning of hte school year up until the test date. If you want your child to stay after on a particular day be sure to have them sign up and bring a note the day of the session.

Sincerely,

Russ Thompson

Spring has sprung and poetry has begun

Hello Everybody I would just like to point out to all of my students and their parents that we are finally nearing the end of the school year and we have lots of things to keep us busy!!

First off we have begun our poetry unit which will take us right up to EOG testing time. All of the sixth grade students will be working on an in-depth poetry project which is, in fact, three projects rolled into one. On Friday I handed out the Tic-Tac-Toe Project sheet. By Monday the 21st everyone needs to have decided which three of the nine projects they wish to do. Every student must choose ONE project from each column (A,B, and C) and they must line up in a row (just like in tic-tac-toe). Because Mrs. Hopkins and I know how busy things are at this time of year we decided to split up the due dates. Project A will be due on May 1st, Project B on May 15th, and Project C on the 30th of May. We will be allowing our students to work on them in class whenever possible but it is imperative that everyone works on these projects at home as well.

Hopefully this will be a fun way to cap off the end of the school year and I am super excited to see what everyone comes up with :)

Dosvidanya, (Russian for until we meet again)

I just wanted to say happy holidays to all my students, co-workers, and their families. Have a safe winter break and I look forward to seeing everyone in ‘08 :)

Thanks for all your votes!!!!

I would just like to thank everyone who voted for me. Wearing the turkey suit on Tuesday was a wonderful experience!!

 GOBBLE GOBBLE!!!

which is turkey for have a great holiday

Almost Turkey Day

I would just like to take this oppourtunity to ask all of my students as well as the Sea Turtle students to vote for me to wear the turkey suit. As most of my students know by now I am a Virginia Tech graduate and our mascot is the Hokie…which is essentially a large maroon and orange turkey. So everyone needs to get out there and vote Mr. T so I can wear a silly costume all day :)

Welcome to 6th grade Language Arts

Hello and welcome to Mr. Thompson’s 6th grade Language Arts class. This is going to be an exciting school year for everyone as we journey through the world of literature in class. We have finished the first week of school and I have to say that I am impressed with the knowledge and wisdom displayed by all of the 6th grade students. As this year progresses this class weblog will grow and develop into a truly interactive tool for parents, students, and myself.

If any parents have questions or ideas to make this year more exciting please feel free to email me or leave a note in your child’s planner with your inquiries.
